Well, it’s been a while

You know that feeling when you forget you have a blog?

Well, a lot has happened since my last post (in June of 2022. #oops) Let’s see if I can remember where I’ve been since then:

Summer 2022: Ft Campbell, KY Brooklyn, NY Clarksville, GA Memphis, TN Omaha, NE Deming, NM Bainbridge, GA Fall 2022: Cheyenne, WY Hill City, SD Lincoln, NE Ann Arbor, MI Warren, NJ Westchester, NY Scottsbluff, NE Kankakee, IL Winter 2022-2023 Edison, NJ Frisco, TX Baytown, TX Gunnison, CO Austin, TX Alexandria, LA Scottsboro, AL Baton Rouge, LA New Orleans, LA Spring 2023 Wilkesboro, NC Ann Arbor, MI Westchester, NY Baytown, TX Santa Fe, NM New Orleans, LA Summer 2023 Greenville, SC Detroit, MI

And here we are again. Busy year, eh? This month, I went home for my brother’s senior piano recital. Here is a rare photo of the three miscreants, cleaned up and in the same frame:

The Three Stooges ourselves

After that, I got one more week with my husband in New Orleans, then it was back on the road with the Hammer clan. We all piled back in the van to head to Greenville, SC for the brother’s high school graduation. We drove from Boerne to Greenville in one 20 hour trip, stopping only for gas and to change drivers. #neveragain

The only Hammer Family photo taken since the wedding in 2022

On our way home from Greenville, we got the ancient Greece experience in the unlikely spot of Nashville, TN.

May or may not have been inspired to visit by the Percy Jackson movie…

Then it was straight home, change suitcases and fly to Detroit. I have been in Detroit for the past two weeks, splicing fiber with my old friends from Auburn. It’s been nice to return to work as a seasoned pro instead of the scared little no-nothing kid I was in 2021. Top record this week has been 192 splices per day, with something approaching 800 splices done in the time on site. Not too shabby, if you can get around the acute-onset carpel tunnel syndrome.

From here I’m either on to Martha’s Vineyard or “home” to Michael who’s back in New Orleans. With the end of the job coming up in less than 48 hours, I still don’t have a destination nailed down yet. Such is gypsy life.
