Detroit to Martha’s Vineyard

The Famed Wiener-Mobile

In two weeks in Detroit, I had two days off I took the opportunity to visit the Henry Ford Museum of American Innovation. Greenfield Village was booked up, but the museum itself is worth a visit even without getting in to the village.

The next weekend, I finally crossed the Canadian border. I visited Windsor, Ontario which is not a tourist hotspot but it IS in Canada, so now I have officially visited two foreign countries. The tunnel was not as picturesque as the bridge, but was $15 cheaper.

From Detroit I packed up and flew to Martha’s Vineyard. It took two days, three canceled flights, and a rental car to get from Detroit to the island, but it was well worth the difficulties.

Cape Poge Light

My friend Scott and I were working at the historic Kelley House (now the Faraway MV), pulling fiber optic cable through water-filled crawlspaces. All good fun, with espresso in the morning and ice cream on the dock at night to make up for working til midnight four days in a row.

Well-deserved ice-cream break

Monday the 3rd, I was back at the airport. For once this year, all of my connecting flights lined up correctly and I actually managed to get from Martha’s Vineyard to Washington Regan to Dallas/Fort Worth to San Antonio with only one 30-minute delay. The view from the plane was especially good.

Finally, after 6 weeks apart I was reunited with my faithful, patient husband. ❤

I leave you with some sage advice from Papacitos:
