An unexpected vacation

The most expensive mistake Michael has ever made was to convince me to like sushi! While in New Jersey, we went to Miso Sushi, a tiny little one-woman sushi-shop and got some of the best sushi in Edison.

During August we had two classes in New York, one in Westchester and one on Coney Island. When we first got married, Michael bought two emergency ponchos to keep in the van, just in case we ever had to pack up in the rain. 18 months later, his vision was finally prove prescient. Our legs got absolutely SOAKED, but our bodies were nice and dry while packing up on Coney Island.

From the Big Apple, we drove to Kansas for a complete change of scenery! Our campus this week was surrounded on all sides by….grass. Unfortunately, we were in Butler, KS during a week of light breeze, clear skies, and mid-80s temperatures. It was enough to convince you that people live in Kansas for a reason.

From Kansas we had a short trip to Slidell, LA and then we snuck over to Pigeon Forge TN to see the Pirate’s Voyage Dinner and Show. We were there for two days and “We have to have something to on Sunday” (quote from Michael, summer 2023), so we went to Gatlinburg to see the Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Aquarium, The Ripley’s Odditorium, and mini-golf, and then came back to Pigeon Forge to see The Hatfield’s and McCoy’s Dinner and Show.

Dolly Parton sure has a good thing going in Tennessee!
From Tennessee, we made a quick trip to Georgia, then home to Texas for two weeks of no classes.
